Nixa Parks & Recreation staff have discovered a significant leak in the community pool located at The X Center in McCauley Park. Normally, the pool opens Memorial Day weekend, however, the need for repair will cause a delay in the opening of the pool. The Aquatics Center will remain closed until the pool is in condition to be opened to the public. At this time, the City of Nixa does not have an estimate for when repairs will be completed. more

Nineteen Ozark seniors were able to receive their accolades and thank their donors at a short desert reception that preceded the Ozark Senior Awards Ceremony. more

The Missouri Humanities Council (MHC) has awarded a grant of $10,000 to the Christian County Museum and Historical Society to create and install an exhibit on the former Mullins-Taylor Farmstead. The MHC is the only statewide agency in Missouri devoted exclusively to humanities education for citizens of all ages. It has served as a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities since 1971. more

Bradford Court, assisted living by Americare, recently received an award for resident services, during a remote presentation. Members of Americare’s leadership were on hand to present the award and celebrate with the team. Bradford Court was selected from Americare’s 86 assisted living communities to receive the award based on exemplary quality in the area of resident services. The recognition is one of four philosophy awards which reflect the four priorities of the company: service to residents, service to the employees, service to the community and fiscal responsibility. more

Chadwick Motorcycle and ATV Use Area is one of two motorized trail systems in Mark Twain National Forest (Forest). Located on the Ava Unit of the Ava/Cassville/Willow Springs (ACW) Ranger District, this network of trails gives Forest visitors a place to ride and enjoy their ATVs, UTVs and off-road motorcycles. The only thing the Forest Service requires is for visitors to purchase the proper riding permit. Unfortunately, several factors have created a bottleneck in pass sales. ACW Ranger District employees recognize this and are working to fix this issue. more
The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Foundation announced that Nixa High School students Sergio Pulbere, Landon Carson, Jackson Coleman and Alexander Deatherage won the Spring 2023 Stock Market Game competition for the entire state of Missouri. The Stock Market Game in personal finance simulates trading, buying and selling stocks. more

According to Mike Klinger, Past Exalted Ruler (PER), Trustee and Christian County Elks Public Relations, one highlight of the year at any Elks Lodge is a Mother’s Day celebration. Christian County Elks #2777 of Ozark honored the Elks Mothers last Friday for PER Steak Night. All mothers in attendance received a carnation and were entered into a drawing for a beautiful Hydrangea table centerpiece. Thirteen centerpieces were raffled off to the delight of some lucky moms. more
