On Saturday, March 22, Zan Fugitt, a 2023 Nixa High School graduate, won All-American honors when he came in fourth at the NCAA National Wrestling Tournament in Philadelphia, becoming only the second person from south of I-44 to win All-American honors in wrestling. Less than a week later, he was back in Nixa to lead a wrestling clinic at his old high school. About 60 kids attended the clinic.

A Nixa Middle School student paid a visit to his former kindergarten teacher on Friday, April 4, and read his book to the students in her class. Carter Zoromski, 14, read his book, PJ Pirate, to the students in Leigh Berry's kindergarten class at Century Elementary School, capping off their Pirate-themed week.

Abigail Conrad of Nixa was among 225 University of Nebraska-Lincoln undergraduate students officially admitted to teacher education programs during the 2024-25 academic year who were recognized at the second annual Teacher Education Convocation on April 4 at Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall. Conrad is a sophomore in the elementary education program.

This winter and spring, an additional 30,000+ kids at 150+ schools statewide will participate, including those most recently at Epsy Elementary School in Nixa.

The Nixa Chamber of Commerce held the NIXPO Business Showcase in the Nixa High School gymnasium and commons area on Saturday, March 22. About 100 vendors, including area businesses and organizations, had booths at the event, which gave attendees a chance to learn more about the businesses, organizations, and services available in the area. NIXPO also featured a raffle with $1,000 in prizes, a bounce house, games hosted by individual vendors, a blood drive, and more.

The Nixa Chamber of Commerce welcomed two businesses as new members of the Chamber with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Wednesday, March 19. The first ribbon cutting was held at Smoke-N-Sizzle, a barbecue wholesale and supply store. Owner Chris Barr said that they sell smokers, wood pellets, rubs and sauces, and “everything you need to be a backyard champion.”

Nixa, Mo. - The Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce and Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) are partnering together to host a blood drive at the 29th NIXPO Business Showcase on Saturday, March 22. CBCO is the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at 45 area healthcare facilities. The NIXPO blood drive will take place during the showcase at Nixa High School located in the Auxiliary Gym, 514 S. Nicholas Road. Drive hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
