Funeral: 2 p.m. May 2 at Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Troy Hull officiating. Burial followed at Bruner Cemetery.

Bertsel Johnson, 89, of Ozark, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. She was born July 16, 1925, at Bruner, the daughter of Ellis and Jimmie (Ferrell) St. John. On Sept. 25, 1942, she was united in marriage to Elbert Alva (Buck) Johnson, who preceded her in death.

Bertsel was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She retired from Fasco Industries after 31 years. She also accepted Christ at an early age and enjoyed her faithful Christian life. Bertsel will be in the hearts of her loved ones forever and sadly missed by her family.

Bertsel is survived by three daughters, LaVa Haden, Wannis Applegate and husband Dewey and Lerris Pierce and husband Larry, all of Ozark; a brother, Derald St. John and wife Myrtle Mae; two sisters, Texie Dunn and Dee Greene; four grandchildren, TaWatha Doss, Satotha Burr, Danteley Pierce and LaRell Applegate; ten great-grandchildren, Kourtney Doss, Haleigh Doss, Carleigh Pierce, Hannah Pierce, Allison Burr, Chandler Doss, Gracie Applegate, Ella Applegate, Carter Applegate and Everest Applegate; and several other caring relatives. Bertsel was preceded in death by her parentsl two sisters, LaVonna Vee and Vineta Ree St. John; a brother, Byron St. John; two brothers-in-law, Charles Dunn and Art Greene; one sister-in-law, Josephine St. John; two nephews, Mark Dunn and Aaron St. John; and a son-in-law Dale Haden.
