Betty Lee Stallcup, 89 of Springfield, was born Oct. 14, 1928. She died in Springfield during the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

Betty was born in Okemah, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ray and Georgia Lee Cruce. She grew up in Salina, Kansas along with her seven siblings. After graduating high school, she moved to southern California in 1947, with her two sisters, Mary and Jean. In 1955, she married Charles W. Stallcup in Downey, California. In 1957, Charles was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where Betty joined him for the duration of his deployment. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he and Betty returned to southern California to start a family. Charles and Betty were self-employed for most of their working careers. In 1976, they sold their business in California and moved to Ava to run a dairy farm. They retired from farming in 1998, and later moved to Springfield in 2001.

Betty loved spending time with her family and was the go-to for the best Sunday and holiday dinners. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by a sister, Jean Ludes of Sun City, Arizona; brothers-in-law Bob Stallcup of Mount Vernon and James Stallcup of Yuma, Arizona; son Charles Stallcup and wife Ginger of Springfield; daughter Susan Fiedler of Springfield; grandchildren Amanda R. Mitchell and husband Keith, Amy Layman and husband Jeff, Megan A. LeBlanc and husband Norman and grandson Chase Stallcup and wife Jordan; great-grandchildren Ellie, Claire, Wade, Max, Oliver, Daisha, Lexi, Aliyah, Norah, Jaxson and Harlan; and many loved nephews and nieces.
