Denzil “Denny” Hursh

Denzil “Denny” Hursh, 71, Ozark, died Dec. 21, 2011, in Cox South Hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1940, in Chadwick, the son of Richard and Lillie (Pruitt) Hursh. On Sept. 10, 1961, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Cobb and this union was blessed with a son and daughter. Denny was a well-known Ozark business owner and longtime Christian County resident. For more than 26 years, Denny was a member and deacon at Mentor Baptist Church and most recently a member of Victory Baptist Church. He owned the Ozark Headliner from1967 to 1979 and served on Ozark Chamber of Commerce and served as a member of Ozark City Council. During the 1960s Denny was appointed to be a member of the Shifters Car Club and enjoyed working with the Ozark Drag Strip. Denny is survived by his wife Bonnie, son Rich Hursh and wife Patty of Nixa, daughter Darla Ulrich and husband Mike of Ozark; two grandchildren Colby Hursh and Brady Workman; two step-grandchildren Brad Emory and Brandi Gump; two great-grandchildren Denzil Workman and Emma Gump; three nieces, several extended family members and friends. The family request donations in Denny’s honor to American Diabetes Association, 1944-A Sunshine, Springfield, 65804. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Dec. 27 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Robert Long officiating. Burial followed in Chadwick Memorial Cemetery.
