Hugh “Jay” Budd, 69, of Nixa, died Aug. 24, 2016. He was born Oct. 11, 1946, in Charleston, South Carolina, to Hugh and Jewell (Reed) Budd. Jay was raised in the Highlandville area and was a 1964 graduate of Galena High School. He was a self-employed backhoe operator for many years. Jay loved deer and elk hunting in Colorado, Chevy cars and trucks and anything outdoors. He and Hollis Jean (King) were married many wonderful years.
He is survived by wife, Holly; sons, Michael Budd and wife Jennie of Highlandville and Tom Budd of Nixa; several grandchildren; and two brothers, Calvin Budd of Nixa and Babe Budd of Highlandville. Hugh was a friend to many, and will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Betty King.
