Visitation: 9-10 a.m. June 2 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral to immediately follow, also at the funeral home, with Dan Updegrave officiating. Burial will follow in Ponce de Leon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jane Rexine Whiting, 74, of Ponce de Leon, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018. She was born July 22, 1943, in Washburn, the daughter of Ira and Wilma (Varner) Grimes. On July 22, 1963, she and Van Ray Whiting were united in marriage. They lived in Dallas, Texas until February of 1965.
Jane is survived by her children, Vanita McGaughey and husband John, and Dow Whiting and wife Linda; grandchildren Sage Whiting and Ian and Seth McGaughey; sister Alma and husband Jack Williams. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Beverly Walker; and grandparents Paul and Nora Varner and Ira and Erie Grimes.
Jane owned and operated a nursery/greenhouse for 15 years. She enjoyed reading, knitting caps for the cancer society and spending time with her grandchildren.
