Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Jan. 24, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Visitation to be held an hour and a half prior to the service. Burial to follow at McConnell-Bledsoe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.LLS.org.

Jimmy Ray Snowden, 79, of Nixa, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019. He was born April 1, 1939, in Blue Eye, the son of Carroll and Darlene (Jackson) Snowden. He was a 1957 graduate of Hollister High School. On June 30, 1961, he and Janet Elizabeth Larkin were married. Jim served his country in the Army Reserves.

In 1966, Jim started working for Thompson Pontiac in Springfield. After six years, he started his own dealership on St. Louis Street. He moved to South Campbell Street and later to Nixa, completing more than 50 years in the car business. Jim also raised cattle for 40 years.

He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Jim loved golf and enjoyed many happy years with his golfing friends. Always on the go, Jim loved spending time with his family, and will be missed by each of them.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jan; two sons and their wives, Jeff and Elizabeth Snowden of Flower Mound, Texas, and Jarrett and Lena Snowden of Battlefield; grandchildren Shane and Savannah Snowden, and Ty, Bryce and Delaney Snowden; two sisters, Betty Pietsch of Rolla and Linda Beltz of Branson; two brothers, Kenny Snowden of Clever and Ed Snowden of Battlefield; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clay Snowden; and two sisters, Caroline Wright and June Bray.
