Funeral: 11 a.m. Jan. 11 in Mt. Olive Methodist Church, Marionville, with Rev. Carol Ann Chilton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Marionville. Visitation: 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.

John Sherman Dirkwood “Dirk” Morgan, 62, of Springfield, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018. He was born March 15, 1955, in Springfield, the son of James Estel Morgan and Doris Leah (Montgomery) Morgan. 

He was a 1973 graduate of Marionville High School. Dirk enjoyed playing basketball for Marionville. He received a bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University. In 1988 he and Ann Oliver were united in marriage. She preceded Dirk in death in 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Otis and Ada Montgomery. 

Dirk had an incredible sense of humor and was always ready with jokes and riddles. He never met a stranger and had many friends. 

Survivors include: Three children, Christopher Carr Morgan and wife Debi and their son, Max of Independence, Brendon James Morgan of Dallas Texas and Madison Morgan of Springfield; a sister, Jolie Ikard of Ozark; a brother James T. Montgomery and wife Diana of Edmond, Oklahoma; four nieces, Jenny Owen, Rachel Clinton, Amanda Montgomery and Melissa James; and a nephew, Nicolas Montgomery.
