Graveside memorial service: 3 p.m. Oct. 22, in Selmore Cemetery, south of Ozark, with Pastor Bud Kelley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
Maurine Young, 86, of Ozark, died in her daughter’s home Oct. 19, 2017. She was born Oct. 7, 1931, in the Selmore Community, the daughter of Allen Abraham and Evelyn (Phillips) Lawing. She first attended Selmore Christian Church where her grandparents were founders, at the age of 2 weeks. On Dec. 24, 1948, she and Wilbur Dean Young were married.
Maurine cared for children in her home for many years. She was also a wonderful baker and cook, serving many pans of homemade rolls, cookies and fried chicken to her family and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard, knitting, crocheting and embroidery work.
Survivors include: Her two children, Leandra Costello and husband Joe of Springfield, and Wesley Young, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband Wilbur preceded her in death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Carol Young; a brother, Orville Lawing; and her parents.
