Funeral: 10 a.m. Oct. 2 at Aldersgate United Methodist with Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Richard Norman “Dick” Sellars, 86, of Nixa, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015. He was born on Sept. 19, 1929, in Houston, Texas the son of Jewel George Sellars and Elizabeth Adeline (Terry). He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Kansas City where he graduated from Paseo High School.

Dick received his business degree from Kansas University in 1954. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was an Eagle Scout and later a Scout Leader of Troop 275 in Hickman Mills, MO. On Aug. 22, 1953 Dick and Peggy Autry were united in marriage. He worked for 29 years for United Telephone Company (Sprint) in Kansas City, Newton, Iowa, and Eden Prairie, Minnesota, before retiring to Nixa. Dick was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was a Korean War Veteran and was an active member of the Korean War Veterans Group in Springfield.

Survivors include his loving wife, Peggy Sellars of Nixa, three children; Robert David Sellars of Denver, Colorado, Steven Kent Sellars of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Susan Marie Sellars of Nixa; two grandsons, Lucas Kent Sellars of Ft. Brag, North Carolina, and Marcus Lee Sellars, Madison, Wisconsin.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George; and sister, Jean Mathis.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 460 W. Aldergate Drive, Nixa.
