Funeral mass: Feb. 4 at Catholic Church in Miami, Florida.

Robert Keith McDaniel, 69, was born Feb. 8, 1947, to Leslie L. and Phyllis M. (Shamel) McDaniel in Lebanon, Missouri. He died Feb. 1, 2017, after a long battle. Bob was an outstanding athlete in both baseball and basketball at Logan Rogersville High School, where he graduated in 1965. He attended the University of Missouri to play baseball and also walked on the basketball team, starting in several games. He later signed with the Yankees and played in their minor league club for four years and one year in Mexico. Following his baseball career, he settled in southern Florida where he was involved in various business pursuits and enjoyed raising his family. He was an avid golfer and was Director of Operations for Leon Medical Centers in Miami at the time of his death.

He was laid to rest on his 70th birthday, Feb. 8, in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery.

He is survived by his children, Beatriz (Michael) Quijano, Lisa (Ricky) Bascuas, Robert (Barbie) McDaniel and Elizabeth (Orlando Delgado) McDaniel; brothers, Gary (Patty) McDaniel, Jim (Judy) McDaniel and Dan (Phyllis) McDaniel; his children’s mother, Betty (Maduro) McDaniel; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His love and laughter will be missed by his family and many friends.
