Rodney Sherman Henry, 73, of Nixa, died Thursday, May 17, 2018. He was born Aug. 1, 1944, in Burbank, California, the son of Grant Sherman Henry and Gwendoline Frances Maude (Gardiner) Henry. Rodney served his country in the U.S. Air Force 1962-1966. On March 15, 1968, he and Amber Sue Hill were united in marriage.
Rodney graduated from SMSU with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He worked as a home builder in California and Missouri. He most recently was a veterans coordinator for the Missouri Department of Labor.
Rodney was a service-minded man who never knew a stranger, always offering help to those in need. He enjoyed spending time on the computer, and was an excellent photographer.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Amber; three children, Dawn Michelle Fitzgerald and husband Mark of Springfield, Rodney Shawn Henry of Springfield, and Jerrod Leon Henry and wife Elizabeth of Los Fresnos, Texas; daughter-in-law Desiree Henry of Strafford; grandchildren Shauna Kay Henry, Christopher Henry, Damon Lee Henry, Timothy Henry, Devon Henry, Jesse Henry and Skyler Henry; great-grandson Asher Henderson; three brothers, Kenneth Henry, Arthur Henry and David Henry; sister Anita Moore; brothers-in-law Terry Hill and Jerry Hill; and other relatives and many friends.
Rodney was preceded in death by his son, Jason Grant Henry; his parents, Grant and Gwendoline Henry; sister-in-law Karen Slavings; and parents-in-law Leon B. Hill and Rosemary Hill.
