Daugherty coaching Nixa grads Nelson, Russo and Retone in Show-Me League

Former Nixa coach Jason Daugherty is being reunited with three of his former players while managing Victus in the Show-Me Collegiate Summer League.

Daugherty coached the Eagles to 64 wins in 82 games over three seasons and has been at Nixa for five years as a science teacher. He owns a 371-134 career W-L record over 19 seasons that also includes stints at El Dorado Springs and Springfield Catholic.

Daugherty’s Victus roster will include recent Nixa grads Jaret Nelson, Sam Russo and Ryan Retone, along with Ozark grads Brody Baumann, Greydon Miller and Sutton Hanks.

Nelson’s senior season saw him finish with a .467 batting average, four homers, 42 RBIs and 46 runs scored.

Russo’s senior stats included a .400 batting mark, 31 RBIs and 39 runs.

The Springfield Cobras have local connections in Ozark grads Holden Sabor, Garrett Dotson, Logan Baade and Devyn Wright.

The defending league champion Midwest Nationals will have Ozark grads Carson Shaver, Dylan Frandsen and Nixa grad Hardy Dougan.

Shaver batted .234 with two homers and nine RBIs at Drury this year

The Ozark Wild will include Nixa grad Quinn Gundelfinger and Clever grad Cole Langley.

Gundelfinger is fresh from his freshman season at Garden City (Kansas), where he batted .234 with four home runs and 23 RBIs.

Games will be held Sunday through Thursday over seven weeks of regular-season play leading up to Championship Week July 22-24.
