Jake Uber’s perseverance on the pitcher’s mound paid handsome dividends over the past two months.
Uber enjoyed a breakout season in the Show-Me Collegiate Summer League. The Midwest Nationals 6-foot-2, 220-pound right-hander put together a 4-0 W-L record and 0.98 ERA to earn the league’s Pitcher of The Year award.
Uber threw 18.1 innings while striking out 21, walking four and giving up six hits.
Uber, a 2019 Nixa grad, has spent the last three years at the juco level, at Three Rivers and Fort Scott (Kansas). He appeared in 19 games and pitched 36 innings in two years at Three Rivers and appeared in 13 games while throwing 16.1 innings this year at Fort Scott.
Uber will continue his career at NCAA D-II Southern Arkansas.
Ozark grad Dylan Frandsen also proved effective for the league champion Nationals.
Frandsen, who has pitched the last two years at Drury, was 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA and 24 strikeouts while yielding 10 walks and 10 hits in 19 innings.
The Show-Me League’s Player Of the Year is being shared by the Nationals’ Luke Burk and the Route 66 Stars’ Cooper Munro.
Burk, a Galena grad and former SWCL MVP, is headed to Auburn after two years of juco ball at Neosho (Kansas). Munro, a California native, is a first baseman at Drury.
Nixa grads Jaret Nelson and Sam Russo, who both played for Victus, made the Show-Me League All-Star team in their first go-around in the circuit.
Other Nationals named All-Stars are Landon Richards, Max Elmer and Trey Rasenfoss.
The rest of league runner-up Route 66’s All-Stars are Zach Beatty, Paxton Smith, Jeb Brown and Zach McKinnis.
The Springfield Cobras’ Brennan Montgomery, Sawyer Smith, Trent Harris and James Robinson are All-Stars, as are the Queen City Crush’s Trey Mulholland, Josh Buxton, Tanner Lumley and Brock Wendlandt, Victus’ Cale Clark, Zach Sohosky and Brock Wendlandt and Ozark Wild’s Jackson Vestal, Nick Hawkins and Jake Leeker.
