Rescheduled from its original date due to the Nixa Eagles’ state championship football game, the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony kicked off the holiday season in Nixa on Sunday, Dec. 8 at McCauley Park. Mayor Jarad Giddens lit the 26-foot tree, and guests enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies while listening to songs from the Nixa Public School choirs. The event also included a chance to visit Santa Claus, a petting zoo, giveaways and a snowmaking machine.
