Nixa's Peyton Moore receives his silver medal at the Class 4 State Tournament on Saturday.

Nixa’s Peyton Moore lost by majority decision 10-0 Saturday at the State Wrestling Championships, as he made history by becoming the first Eagle freshman to ever compete for a state championship.

Moore fell to Liberty freshman Easton Hilton in the Class 4 106-pound final.

Hilton (46-4) was a dominant champion. Earlier in the tourney, he picked up two second-period pins and a posted a 4-1 win in the semifinal round against DeSmet’s Colton King.

Moore, who earlier this season set a Nixa record for most pins by a freshman, finished with a 43-10 record.

The Lady Eagles’ Ashlynn Eli (103) bounced back from her semifinal round loss to record pins in 2:15 and 1:20 and claim third place.

Eli, a freshman, ended with a 25-2 record.

Kearney’s Emalie Olson, who pinned Eli in the semifinals, lost by forfeit in the championship match to Lafayette’s Faith Cole.
