Elementary KITES students across the Ozark School District started their "Global Awareness and Conservation" project by exploring the outdoors behind West Elementary School. Students splashed through the creek searching for crawdads, tadpoles and small snails.

Students also picked up litter on their walk and then researched how long it would take for different pieces of trash to decompose. Students were shocked to discover pieces would take millions of years to disintegrate and some would never go away.

KITES — Kids In Talented Educational Studies — is the gifted program for students in elementary school. The group typically meets weekly with their respective grade levels.
