Operation Half Pint 2019

Kiwanis Club of Ozark President Carrie Burke presented the club’s Operation Half Pint check to Jo Haraldson at the Ozark Schools District Office on January 23.  Pictured l-r: Michelle Lindsey, Shane Strahl, Haraldson, Barry Ulrich, Burke, Melissa Sixkiller and Chris Ulrich.

The Kiwanis Club of Ozark presented $1,900 to Operation Half Pint representatives, Jo Haraldson, Director of Nutrition Services and Michelle Lindsey, Community Resource Coordinator.

The Operation Half Pint program provides students in the free and reduced meal program with snack milk for Tiger Paw and kindergarten students, a second milk at breakfast and lunch for K-12 students, and milk to students who brought their lunch.

The Half Pint Program began at one school in 1999 with a budget of $100 per month from Ozark Christian Church. Last year, 31,165 units of milk were served to Ozark students. The benefit to students is improved nutrition, which helps children be more effective learners and that increases their self-esteem.
