Nixa’s Catherine Everett qualified for Sectionals last Friday by finishing second in Class 2 District 10 singles action.

Everett trail to the championship match was highlighted by her upset of Kickapoo’s Jadyn Wersinger in a third-set tiebreaker in the semifinal round. 

In the final, Everett fell to the Lady Chiefs’ Jenna Swope 6-2, 6-4.

Everett will compete in Sectionals on Tuesday. 

Ozark 4-1 at Carthage Invite

Ozark’s softball team claimed wins over Oak Park, Joplin, Neosho and Monett at the Carthage Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Tigers’ lone loss came at the hands of McDonald County.

Nya Morgan pounded out eight hits, including five home runs, during the tourney. She upped her season home run count to 15, matching, her total from her junior year. 

Kara Ford had three home runs among her nine hits. Abby Ford collected 11 hits and Makenna Harmon had eight.

Morgan enters Districts hitting .500, Harmon .479 and Abby Ford .456.
