A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial with full military honors will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 3 p.m. following the memorial service, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. 

Cornelius Paul Schulte, Jr., 69, of Springfield died Sunday, April 14, 2019. He was born in Baltimore City, Maryland, May 30, 1949 to Cornelius Paul, Sr. and Patricia (Parrish) Schulte. Paul married Cindy Evans January 26, 1973.

Paul served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He served four tours in an airborne unit in a special operations group. Paul was a prisoner of war for a short time, as he was able to escape. Near the end of Paul's term in the Army, he stepped off of the airplane upon returning to the U.S. from Vietnam. A beautiful young lady walked up to him, handed him a flower and said, “Marry me.” He did marry her. It was Cindy Evans. They have been married 46 years.

After serving in the Army, Paul was hired by the Nevada Highway Patrol. Paul went undercover in the drug enforcement division. He was very successful. He later did some investigative work for the federal government. Paul completed his law enforcement career as a prison guard in Nevada.

Paul Enjoyed reading and wrote books about his experiences while in law enforcement. He was an inventor and some of his inventions were put on the market.

Paul and Cindy moved to Springfield in 2014 to be close to her family.

Paul is survived by his wife, Cindy; a daughter Angela (Schulte) Hesler; siblings Pamela, Evelyn, Paula and Kenneth; grandchildren Alyssa Carol Schulte, Hallei Danielle Schulte, Carlee Ann Gonzales, Devin James Schulte, Trevor J. Kelly, Zackory Kelly and Cameron Kelly, Trevor J. Kelly, Zackory Kelly, and Cameron Kelly.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents; and a son Cornelius Paul Schulte III.
