It was an unconventional way to celebrate, but Clever High School’s class of 2020 made the most of a non-traditional ceremony held in the drive in front of their school.

Graduates clad in caps and gowns walked down a sidewalk in front of the high school as teachers and faculty cheered them along on a hot Saturday afternoon. They received a diploma and posed for photographs as their families watched from their vehicles.

Each graduate was allowed two vehicles that pulled up the drive to the front of the building as their graduate received a diploma.

The Clever R-5 School District plans to honor graduates with a traditional commencement ceremony on Aug. 16, at Drury University in Springfield.
