Kimber Grogan turned four on Saturday.

If the midst of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, when gatherings are restricted by law and social distancing guidelines are being practiced across Missouri, Kimber’s family had to improvise in order to celebrate her big day.

Her parents, Paddy and Coty, turned a princess party into a birthday parade in front of their house in Ozark. Some of Kimber’s cousins and her grandparents took part in the parade, as did some guests of honor from the Ozark Fire Protection District and the Ozark Police Department.

Guests passed their gifts for the birthday girl from their car windows as the stopped and waved. If they wanted, their received some cake that had been cut and wrapped with great care and surgical precision by Kimber’s grandma, Kimberlie Figg. Kimber wore a dress inspired by Princess Elsa from Disney’s “Frozen.”

Kimber is looking forward to March of 2021, when she hopes social distancing practices in response to COVID-19 will be in the distance past.

“I hope my family isn’t sick next year and can come to my birthday party,” she said.
