A memorial service for James E. Barker, 69, of Ozark, will be Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. with visitation immediately before service from 1-2:30 p.m. at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, 1638 East State Highway 76, Branson.

Jim was born Jan. 17, 1950, in St. Louis to Jim H. and Mildred L. (Turner) Barker. He died May 20, 2019, quietly and peacefully from his family's loving arms into the loving arms of Jesus, and under the compassionate care of doctors and nurses at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Jim is survived by his wife Marilynn of 50 years, who adores him; a son Scott Barker and wife Cyndi of Kirbyville; three daughters, Angie Barker and partner Michele of Nixa, Christel Gregg and husband Tim of Kirbyville, and Mandy Rispoli and husband John of Springfield; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who all love and treasure their Papa Jim, Daryl Sims and wife Billie and son Brody of Hollister; Kevin Barker and wife Jennifer and daughters Khloe and Klaira of Branson, Jesse and Dylan Barker of Kirbyville, Emily and Gracelyn Gregg of Kirbyville, and Nick, Kaitlyn and Kenshin Rispoli of Springfield; a brother Stan and wife Gayla of Branson; a sister, Mary Williams and husband Cecil of Taneyville; a brother-in-law Terry Whorton and wife Teresa of Kirbyville; and a sister-in-law Judy Ball and husband J.R. of Branson, all of whom are so thankful for their beloved brother. Jim also has many precious nieces and nephews and a host of loyal family, friends, and Empire buddies.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mildred, and father- and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Loretta Whorton.

Jim retired as Manager of Line Operations from Empire District Electric after 45 years of faithful service. He enjoyed woodworking and developing inventions, but the greatest joy of his life was spending time with his family.
