Mary Jane Morgan, 88, of Marshfield died Tuesday, June 11, 2019, in Springfield.

Jane was born in Salem, Missouri, on Nov. 27, 1930, to Henry and Joice Beezley. As a young girl, her family moved to Springfield, where she attended Pickwick Street Elementary School. She later attended Bolivar High School, where she played in the band. After graduation, Jane attended college at Southwest Baptist College.

After attending SWBC, Jane met the love of her life, Herb. The two married and had a son, Ben. Even while being a full-time mother, Jane never slowed down. She attended Springfield Business College, where she received her associate’s degree. Along with Herb, she opened the Ben Franklin store in Ozark, which they operated for many years. Jane also stayed involved with her community by becoming a charter member of the Ozark Methodist Church.

Jane and Herb sold the Ben Franklin store in 1980 and decided to move back to Bolivar, where they operated Morgan Lightfoot Insurance until Herb’s passing. Jane would then move to the Marshfield area, where she found success in the real estate business until her eventual retirement in 2013.

Jane was known far and wide as the pinnacle of elegance. She had a sharp wit and was very purposeful in conversation. Jane was honest, both in word and in deed, and most of all enjoyed staying busy. If not in the office, Jane could be found doing yard work, planting flowers, or spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking particularly, and always had a pot of coffee ready for an unexpected visitor. Jane loved the Lord with all her heart, and enjoyed a deep relationship with her maker. She was also very proud of her family, both past and present. Jane lived a life of love, sacrifice and hard work, and was looked up to by all who knew her.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Joice Beezley, as well as her husband, Herb Morgan. She is also preceded by her son, Ben Morgan, and her sister, Delpha Engledow.

Jane is survived by her beloved grandson, Andrew Morgan.
