Two people who invaded a Nixa home in November of 2023 were sentenced to lengthy prison terms during their sentencing hearings on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024. Donald Cory Trey Condreay, 40, of Springfield, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for First Degree burglary, 10 years in prison for Third Degree assault, and seven years for resisting arrest, with the sentences to be served concurrently. Angela Furtado, 44, of Springfield, was sentenced to 15 years for First Degree Burglary, seven years for Third Degree assault, and seven years for resisting arrest, with the sentences to be served concurrently. Both were convicted following a three-day jury trial in October; they were transferred to the Missouri Department of Corrections on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024.

Several Christian County residents attending college in and out of the area made the Dean’s List at the universities/colleges they attended during the Fall 2024 Semester. The Dean’s List is an academic honor for students who make a 3.5 GPA during a semester while maintaining a class load of at least 12 credit hours. The names of the students who made the Dean’s List appear below, along with their hometowns (Students making some other academic honors are also listed):

Over 450 Christian County residents attending college at Missouri State University made the Dean’s List during the Fall 2024 Semester. The Dean’s List is an academic honor for students who make at least a 3.5 GPA during a semester while maintaining a class load of at least 12 credit hours. The names of the students who made the Dean’s List appear below, along with their hometowns (Note: Due to the large number of students on this list, it is being published separately from the list of Christian County collegiates who made the Dean’s List at other universities/colleges).

Once every five years or so, we get a new television. Sometimes it's because we actually need one – like that summer when a lightning strike electrocuted several of our appliances. But most of the time, it's because Tom starts reading about the incredible picture quality on the newest TV screens, and he just can't stand it anymore. He needs to see it for himself.

This has been the type of weekend I don't care for. The next two days are going to be no better. A good time to stay inside if you can! Zero and below make things happen that none of us like. It does make utility bills higher, but I, for one, am glad to have those.
