Mr. Billy Gene Melton, 87, of Quitman, Arkansas passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019, at his residence. Born Dec. 19, 1931, in Spokane, he was the son of the late Harvey and Opal Magers Melton. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64 and served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1973.
Billy’s hobbies included fishing, traveling, camping and gardening.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis Wayne, Rex and Larry Melton.
Billy is survived by his wife, Madeline Barnes Melton; one son, Billy Gene Melton, Jr. and wife Melanie of Springhill, Kansas; two step-sons John Havens of New Mexico and David Stanford, Jr. of Quitman, Arkansas; one daughter, Sandra Jean Dewitt of Kansas City; three step-daughters, Laura Hannon of Colorado, Lori Stanford of Florida and Felisha Sanders of Quitman, Arkansas; one brother, Joe Melton and wife Ina Faye of Highlandville; one sister, Betty Melton of Highlandville; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granchild; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
