Posted

Funeral: 2 p.m. Dec. 28 at National Avenue Christian Church in Springfield.

Janis  Louise Cantwell, 85, of Springfield, died Sept. 22, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Michael Cantwell.

She is survived by her Children Carol (Russ) Garrison, Scott Cantwell, Linda (Don) Harnden, David (Tonya) Cantwell, Mark (Robin) Cantwell; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren with a ninth on the way.

Janis was born Feb. 1, 1932, in Kansas City. She attended high School at Gainesville, and went to work in Chicago for the telephone Company. She married Carl Cantwell and moved to Willard, then Springfield. She worked at Carlson Pet Hospital for over 25 years as a receptionist and attended National Avenue Christian Church, where she served as a deacon and in their Stephens Ministry.

She was an inspiration to all and served with a compassionate heart and strength greater than her small stature would indicate. May she rest in peace with loved ones who have gone before and will come after.  Special thanks to the staff at Ozark Riverview Manor for being so helpful and kind.
