Juanita Fulton

Juanita Fulton, age 88, of Mt. Vernon, died March 31, 2002. She was lovingly cared for by the staff at Riverview Manor in Ozark.

Fulton was born in Ozark on Dec. 12, 1913, to James (Eck) and Ethel Porter. She graduated from Ozark High School in 1932, then attended Draughon's Business School. Shortly thereafter, Fulton was employed at the Christian County Extension office. In 1934, she was united in marriage to Lynniel Dean Fulton, of Rogersville.

They moved to Mt. Vernon in 1943 and later purchased a farm south of Mt. Vernon. At that time, Fulton was employed by Ozark Electrical Cooperative located in Mt. Vernon and was attributed for assisting many rural families with their first connection of electricity through the Rural Electric Association. After 37 years of faithful employment at Ozark Electrical Cooperative, Fulton retired as office manager. She served on the board for Taylor Senior Center, Senior Housing, and many community projects. Most important to her was serving God with all her heart. She taught Sunday School and GA's for many years.

She was active in visiting and ministering to the ill and delivering food to many homebound in the Mt. Vernon area. She loved her involvement with the Sunshine Seniors from First Baptist, Mt. Vernon.

Fulton was a member of First Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, for 55 years and was recently a member of Second Baptist Church, Springfield. She loved and cared for her family and left them with many wonderful memories.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, three sisters, and a half brother.

She is survived by and will be missed deeply by: Her son and daughter-in-law, John and Billie Fulton, of Springfield; her granddaughters, Kellie Fulton, of Washington, D.C., and Cassie Fulton, of St. Louis; her sister, Almeta Jones, of Columbia; the many extended family members of the Porter and Fulton families; and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Adams Funeral Home, in Ozark on April 2, with a brief graveside service at the Fulton Cemetery, in Rogersville. Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Baptist Children's Home, 603 N. Main St., Mt. Vernon, Mo. 65712.
