SWCL champion Sparta made a clean sweep of the league’s post-season awards, including Jacob Lafferty being tabbed the SWCL Player Of the Year.
Lafferty enjoyed one of the most dominant seasons of any SWCL player in recent seasons. He shot 63 percent from the field while averaging 22.7 points and 11.7 rebounds a game. His rebounding numbers are highlighted by 119 offensive rebounds, or more offensive boards than the rest of the Trojans had combined.
Lafferty was also a First-Team selection as a sophomore and a Second-Team choice as a freshman.
Sparta’s Steven Brown is the Defensive Player Of the Year and Deric Link is the Coach Of the Year.
Lafferty is joined on the First Team by teammate Dexter Loveland, along with Spokane’s JD Tate, Southwest’s Brendyn Paulsen, Crane’s Aiden Vaught and Purdy’s Carter Keeling.
Loveland’s nightly norms were 14.3 points and 7.4 rebounds. He shot 59 percent from the field.
Tate was a Second-Team selection as both a sophomore and junior.
The Second Team is made up of Sparta’s Kavan Walker, Billings’ Cale Plowman, Galena’s Garrett Lewallen, Southwest’s Lucas Paulson and Blue Eye’s Logan Isbell.
Walker averaged 10.3 points a game. He made 72 3-pointers while shooting 38 percent from 3-point land.
Brown received honorable mention recognition, along with Sparta’s Walker Loveland, Spokane’s Ricky Riott and Jace Leigh.
