He ran in 2020, and Jamie Gragg announced he will try again to run for state representative.

Friends To Elect Jamie Ray Gragg, treasured by Jeff Garrison, announced the candidacy of Jamie Ray Gragg for the Republican nomination for State Representative of the 140th Missouri House District. which contains an eastern portion of Christian County including Ozark, Chadwick and Sparta.

State Rep. Tricia Derges, R-Nixa, presently represents the 140th House District. In the August 2020 Republican primary, Derges received 2,018 votes. Derges defeated Jeff Parnell (1,878 votes), Jason Shaffer (1,626 votes) and Gragg (1,143 votes) to win the primary.

Gragg is the first Republican challenger to announce candidacy to challenge Derges in 2022. He is campaigning on his family ties to Christian County, saying that his family has lived in Christian County for 10 generations.

Gragg is a member of Victory Baptist Church. Gragg said that if elected, one he would fight for school choice.

After graduating Ozark High School in 1988, he attended Southwest Baptist University, where he married and started a family. After graduating college, Gragg worked as an executive for the Boy Scouts of America. After the Boy Scouts, he worked in the ministry field on church staffs as an education and youth minister. He later directed Christian camps in Texas and Missouri.

Gragg said he is also known for playing various characters at Silver Dollar City for the past 20 years, including being a notorious outlaw robbing the Frisco Silver Dollar Steam Train. Gragg is now the owner and operator of Ozark Mountain Tops and Artworks, where he creates wooden toys, tops and art pieces he sells across America.

The primary election is set for Aug. 2, 2022.

Missouri Ethics Commission records indicate a statement or organization for Democrat Amy Freeland of ozark to run for the House of Representatives.

I support accessible and affordable healthcare, quality public education, and an economy that values workers' rights and local businesses above disinterested corporations,” Freeland said in a statement of candidacy on her website.

Filing for the August primary officially opens Feb. 22, and runs until March 29. The last day to register to vote in the August primary is July 6.
