More than 50 Nixa, Ozark grads to continue careers at college level


Nixa has six recent graduates and Ozark one who have committed to continue their athletic careers at the NCAA D-I level.

Altogether, a total of 55 members of the Class of 2022 from Nixa and Ozark are due to play a sport at a college or junior college.

Drury, Evangel, Southwest Baptist and State Fair are common destinations for the former Eagles and Tigers.

Nixa’s D-I commits include volleyball players Jaycee Fixsen (Missouri State), Sydney Golden (Northern Iowa) and Jena Medearis (Purdue-Fort Wayne), football player Thomas Schulte (Missouri State), long-distance runner Alicen Ashley (Tulsa) and wrestler Peyton Moore (Mizzou).

Ozark’s D-I signee is softball player Abby Ford (Missouri State).

Ozark grads bound for NCAA D-II member Drury are Ethan Whatley to play basketball, Greydon Miller for baseball, Hanna Vorhies for volleyball, Gabe Bauer for cross country and track and Jace Easley for soccer.

Nixa grads headed to Drury include Wes Hatman for cross country, Rhianna Gibbons for basketball and Addison Tauai for volleyball.

an Ozark grad going to NCAA D-II SBU is Jake Beets for football.

Ozark javelin thrower Ryan Dotson and volleyball players Ellie Schrader and Madison Reed Pitt State are going to NCAA D-II Pitt State (Kansas).

Ozark volleyball player Grace Hall, who missed her senior season due to injury, is going to D-II Missouri S&T.

Nixa basketball players Ali Kamies and Macie Conway and Ozark hoopster Moriah Putt are all ticketed to NCAA D-II Rockhurst.

Nixa wrestler John Gholson is headed to NCAA D-II William Jewell.

Nixa football player Casen Hammitt is going to NCAA D-II Harding (Arkansas).

Going the juco route at State Fair are Ozark baseball players Devyn Wright and Rhett Hayward and Nixa baseball players Sam Russo, Keith Piepmeier and Ryan Retone.

Also going to juco route from Nixa are baseball players Jaret Nelson (Fort Scott) and Hardy Dougan (Maple Woods), basketball player Jordyn Turner (NorthArk) and softball players Katie Faulk (Indpendence) and Apryl Zeno (St. Charles).

Ozark grads going to NAIA schools are basketball player Colton Ballard (Missouri Valley), baseball players Brody Baumann (C of O) and Sutton Hanks (Columbia), soccer player Laney Burks (Westminster) , along with Evangel signees Lyla Watson (baskeball), Elli Kitchin (cross country and track), Caleb Sandgren (soccer) and Kenna Mayfield (softball).

Ozark football player Marcus Orellana is headed to NCAA D-III member Illinois College.

Nixa grads going to NAIA schools include soccer players Madison Snelson (Evangel) and Kailey Tate (Evangel), football players Sam Brower (Evangel), Isaac Frazier (Evangel) and Jaden Aven (Evangel), basketball player Jackson Bell (Baker), tracksters Koby Graham (Evangel), Kaiden McCormick (Evangel) and Ashlyn Allison (Concordia) and baseball player Cooper Duncan (McKendree).
