Quarterback Connor Knatcal upped his touchdown total against Neosho to eight by throwing four scoring strikes in Nixa’s 65-21 home-opening triumph versus the Wildcats on Friday.
Knatcal connected with wide receiver Kael Combs for a pair of touchdown passes and teamed with wideouts Rylan Michel and Wyatt Vincent for a touchdown pass apiece.
The four touchdown passes tied Nixa’s single-game school record. A year ago, Knatcal had four touchdown passes at Neosho.
Knatcal shares the single-game touchdowns record with teammate Austin McCracken.
Seemingly, everyone at Nixa (2-0) has scored opposite Neosho in recent seasons. The Eagles’ last three wins against the Wildcats have seen them total 170 points.
Nixa (2-0) put the turbo clock in play Friday for the final two-plus minutes of the third quarter and all of the fourth quarter.
The Eagles jumped on top 38-7 in the first half.
Running back Ramone Green broke loose for three touchdown runs and his backup, Dylan Rebura, had two touchdown runs.
Kaleb James made good on a 36-yard field goal.
