Ozark offense explosive over second and third quarters in 38-16 comeback victory

Ozark reeled off 38 unanswered points to close out its regular-season strong and roll to a 38-16 triumph versus Carl Junction on Friday.

Ozark (3-6) scored 21 points in the second quarter within a span of seven minutes to turn things completely around. Carl Junction was ahead 9-0 after the opening quarter.

A week earlier, the Tigers spotted Webb City a 19-0 lead, before putting up 48 points.

Ozark got on the scoreboard against Carl Hunction three minutes into the second quarter on a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brady Dodd to wideout Will Scheer.

Running back Jake Beets made it a 14-9 ball game with a nine-yard touchdown run with 5:57 to play in the first half.

An interception set up Dodd for a nine-yard touchdown run with 2:27 remaining in the first half.

Another Ozark interception set up Jace Easley for a 37-yard field goal in the third quarter.

A 25-yard scoring strike from Dodd to Scheer and a three-yard touchdown run by Beets completed the Tigers’ scoring.

Ozark moves on to Class 6 District 3 play as the No. 8 seed. The Tigers will travel to No. 1 seed Lee’s Summit North (8-1) next week.
