Clever's comeback bid fell short in the Jays' 28-20 Homecoming loss to Ash Grove on Friday.
Ash Grove (6-1) denied Clever's attempt to tie with a goal-line stand in the final two minutes. The Jays (0-7) trailed 21-12 at halftime.
Clever's 20 points is a season-high.
Jays quarterback Lane Mendenhall was 9-of-15 passing for 148 yards and one touchdown. He connected with Xavier Robinson for a 39-yard scoring strike.
Robinson added a pick-six, Quenton Lemmer broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown run and Mendenhall thew a two-point conversion pass to Landon Flood to account for the rest of Clever's scoring.
Lemmer had 22 carries for 83 yards. Robinson caught seven passes for 77 yards and Flood hauled in a pair of passes for 71 yards.
"Our kids fought for 48 minutes," Clever coach Willie Howard said.
