With a father in a band, Eagles quarterback Knatcal isn’t the only star at home

Connor Knatcal is experiencing the ups and downs of his position, which in his case and with every other quarterback means touchdowns and interceptions.

The Nixa quarterback shook off a three interception night against Ozark two weeks ago to throw three touchdowns versus Webb City last week. Heading into the Eagles’ trip to Carl Junction tonight, Knatcal is proud of the manner in which he bounced back.

He think his mental makeup has improved as much as any area of his game over the past year.

I didn't have the greatest mindset last year. But I worked on that with my dad and my trainer,” he said. “Now, I feel that is one of the biggest reasons I'm performing well this year.”

The grind associated with the pressure of passing in the pocket week to week falls in line with the song, ‘Gridiron Grind,’ Knatcal’s father recently wrote.

Dan Knatcal, a lyricist and guitarist for the progressive rock band, Sky Falls Down, posted a tweet of the song in concert with a video of Eagles highlights on his Twitter account last month. The video has attracted nearly 500 views on Twitter and more than 150 views on Instagram.

With a father in a rock band, Connor might win any contest among his teammates regarding who has the coolest dad. Connor certainly enjoys having a father so into football and music.

While his dad worked on ‘Gridiron Grind,’ Connor was confident he would like the finished product.

I knew he was working on (the song). He loves making music and it was fun for him to do that,” Connor said. “I’ve heard my Dad's music before and it's always good. He’s awesome. So, I knew it was going to turn out good.”
