Dr.  Lynn Richard Shaffer, 67, of Branson, died Sunday, June 24, 2018, in his home, surrounded by family and friends.

Lynn was born Feb. 12, 1952, in Springfield, to Harold and Evelyn (Shaulis) Shaffer. He graduated from Nixa High School in 1970, Drury College in 1974, and served as 2nd Lieutenant in the Missouri National Guard. He then went on to study medicine at the University of Missouri and finished his residency at Kansas University. On June 5, 1976, he married Christine Maryanne Saitta in Springfield.  After completing residency, the young family settled in Branson in 1982, where he began working as a physician.

Lynn spent his 25-year career doing what he loved: practicing medicine in the fields of family practice, OB-GYN and gastroenterology. While he had many career achievements, he was most proud of serving as chief of staff for Skaggs Community Health Center and being named the AAFP Missouri Family Practitioner of the Year in 2000. In his free time, Lynn enjoyed spending time with his family, writing, fishing, flying airplanes and improving his golf game.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Christine; three children, Christy Rainey, Casey Shaffer and Richard Shaffer; and two brothers, Robert Shaffer and Gary Shaffer. He was also a proud “Pop Pop” to his two grandchildren, Ella and Ben; and an uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
