Hayden Camp is enjoying success as he makes himself comfortable at his future college home.

Camp batted at a .300-plus clip during Show-Me Summer Collegiate League regular-season play for the Route 66 Stars. The recent Clever grad has taken an instant liking to Sky Bacon Stadium, where he will also play college ball for Baptist Bible College beginning next spring.

“The facility is nice here and the field is nice,” Camp said. “It’s going to be fun playing here.”

Camp is also getting a sneak preview of playing against and alongside college players in the Show-Me League.

“It's a lot different than high school. A lot of the guys are bigger, faster and stronger and a lot of off-speed pitches are way dirtier,” Camp said. “It's been a big adjustment, that's for sure. But I think I'm handling it pretty well. I've been holding my own. I'm working hard, hitting before every game and it's paying off.

“I've been doing drills that I hadn't done before and I’m hitting with guys who have a year of college experience,” he added. “They’ve been telling me different things to do, so I've been practicing that and it's been working. (College ball) is going to be a lot. I'm ready for it.”

Camp, who batted .349 with a .412 on-base percentage as a senior while helping Clever win the Mid-Lakes Conference championship, was looking forward to the Show-Me League playoffs this week.

“It's going to be pretty intense, not super crazy. But the games will be fun,” he said.
