NIXA SENIOR CENTER EVENTS
The Nixa Senior Center hosts dances every Tuesday and Friday night, and occasionally Saturday nights, at 7 p.m. Admission is $4. OZARK SENIOR CENTER EVENTS
The senior center also hosts a free nail clinic for veterans the second Tuesday of every month 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. There is no need to reserve a spot for those interested. On the fourth Tuesday of every month, a Veterans Coffee event is held. All veterans are welcome to come in for a hot cup to visit with other veterans. An Ozark Senior Center Fundraiser Breakfast is held the second Saturday of every month. It runs 7-9 a.m. It costs $5.
SPARTA SENIOR CENTER EVENTS
The Senior’s Place in Sparta is open weekdays 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Bingo is from 1-2:30 p.m. every Tuesday with a potluck at noon the first Tuesday of the month. Game day is 1 p.m. every Thursday with cards, dominoes, chess, checkers and more. Friday night is music jam from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Anyone with an instrument is welcome.
ABUNDANT BLESSINGS KIDS KLOSET
Abundant Blessings provides clothing for children in need and foster children. Hours of operation are 6-8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m.-noon Thursdays. CoxHealth is offering free mammograms every third Wednesday of the month. Check in 4-5:30 p.m. at the Breast Care Clinic, located inside the Hulston Cancer Center off James River Freeway in Springfield. The monthly program is provided through a partnership between the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and CoxHealth. No appointment is necessary, and participants do not need to be a CoxHealth patient to receive one. For more information, call (417) 269-LADY.
FAMILY STORY TIME
Christian County residents can enjoy story time with the whole family, thanks to this library event. Listen to tales, sing songs and participate in fun activities to help your children learn early literacy skills. This event takes place at the Nixa Branch 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. every Thursday, at the Clever Branch 11 a.m. every Tuesday, at the Ozark Branch 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. every Wednesday and at the Sparta Fire Station 10 a.m. every Tuesday. This event also takes place at the Billings City Library 10 a.m. monthly on the fourth Thursday.

YOGA AT THE LIBRARY
Debra Tucker, of 417 Create Art and Yoga, will teach a gentle, restorative yoga class for adults once a week, covering basic principles of alignment and technique. The event takes place 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Ozark Branch and Thursdays at the Nixa Branch. This event will not take place Dec. 24, or Dec. 31, due to the holiday season.

READING BETWEEN THE WINES
Adults at the age of 21 or older can enjoy book discussion with a glass of wine in hand 6:30-7:30 p.m. at The Vineyard Market, 1759 W. State Hwy. J, Ozark. Participants are, of course, not obligated to drink alcohol to attend, but the age limit is firm. Attendees will discuss “A Man Called Ove,” by Frederik Backman Dec. 19 and “An Absolutely Remarkable Thing,” by Hank Green Jan. 16.
COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT)
Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) are trained to take care of themselves and then help others in their communities for the first three days following a disaster. CERT holds a training event from 6-9 p.m. at the Christian County Planning and Development building at 60 West Jackson Street in Ozark. The purpose of CERT training is to provide citizens with the basic skills required to handle virtually all their own needs and then to be able to respond to their communities’ needs in the aftermath of a disaster. MOVIE DAY AT THE LIBRARY
Beginning in January, the Christian County Library will host 'Movie Day @ Your Library' at 1 p.m. the fourth Saturday of every month at the library, Ozark. Refreshments will be served. Movies shown will vary each month in subject matter and target audience
GLOW IN THE DARK TRIVIA NIGHT
Join the Christian County Library Foundation for the fifth annual Glow in the Dark Trivia Night at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ozark. The event goes from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Players will compete as teams of eight answering eight rounds of questions. There will be a silent auction and cash bar for those ages 21 and up.
CHASING THE CHADWICK LINE
You don’t have to be a train expert to enjoy a glimpse back at the railroad that ran daily from Springfield to Chadwick, hauling freight and passengers. Tim Ritter presents a modern look at the historic Chadwick Flyer, remnants of which are “hiding in plain sight” in Christian County. The program takes place at 7 p.m. at the Library Center Auditorium, 4653 South Campbell Avenue, Springfield.
FATHER DAUGHTER DANCE
Join your friends at the Nixa Parks and Recreation Father Daughter Dance sponsored by Mac Dental. Dance the night away and enjoy light refreshments at the Nixa X Center from 6-8:30 p.m. Preregistration ends Feb. 6. Cost is $25 for X Center members, $30 for Nixa residents and $35 for non-Nixa residents. Registration fee includes admission for one dad and one daughter. Admission for each additional child is $10. HEART OF OZARK GALA
The Ozark Historic River District puts on a fundraising event for an elegant Valentine’s Day evening starting at 6 p.m. Guests will start with valet parking and a red carpet walk, followed by a gourmet dinner, dancing and prize raffles. The Ozark Historic River District is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Ozark. Cost of the event is $75 per person.
