The University of Missouri Extension Council of Christian County held its annual election resulting in the addition of five new council members and re-election of one incumbent member.
In the Eastern District, Josh Bird, Shannon Eby, Angela Jenkins and Michael Middleton were elected. In the Western District, Cindy Bilyeu and Trisha Riggs were elected, according to Pam Duitsman, County Engagement Specialist. These members begin their two year terms on the MU Extension Council of Christian County March 1, 2019.
The Council members who will continue to serve are Linda Barger, Charles Cameron, Brad Harter, Robert Kerley and Kevin Kopp. Their two-year terms will end in February 2020.
One appointed member will continue her term on the Extension Council: Kathy Martin representing Christian County Farm Bureau. Newly appointed members are Jean Ann Hutchinson for the city of Ozark, Nixa City Administrator Jimmy Liles for the city of Nixa and Christian County Presiding Commissioner Ralph Phillips, representing the county commission.
Outgoing Council members Carl Biondo, Konni Hall, Walt Martens, Jason Sims, Jeff Ware and Ray Weter will be recognized for their years of service to the Extension Council at the group’s annual meeting on Feb. 7.
“We want to thank the outgoing council members for their time and efforts to improve the lives of Christian County residents,” Duitsman said.
Additionally, Bonnie Schooler and Don Currence will be recognized and placed on the “Leaders Honor Roll” for their work in carrying out the Extension mission in Christian County.
In each Missouri county, Extension councils works with MU Extension faculty and staff to provide the county educational programming, manage the county-based finances of local Extension operations, and to provide personnel to carry out Extension activities and organize the local council.
