Paul E. Tollen

The memorial service for Paul will be Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Nixa. The military honors service will be Friday, April 26, at 12 p.m. (noon), at Springfield Veterans Cemetery.

Paul E. Tollen died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, April 11. He is now at home in heaven.

Paul Edward Tollen was born in Red Oaks, Iowa on Feb. 18, 1938, to his parents Roy V. Tollen and Helen Rosene (Jahnke) Tollen. He was one of their six children. 

Paul grew up in Denver, Colorado and had many fun stories to share about being a golf caddy and hitchhiking to Red Rocks. 

He joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served our country well for 20 years. 

During this time in the Navy, he married and raised three children; Holly, Natalie and Joe. He retired after serving 20 years. He remarried and worked another 20 years in the U.S. Naval Shipyard in Virginia and raised another daughter, Tangaleen.

After his second retirement and a few years of coaching Tangaleen's softball teams, the family moved to Nixa. He has lived here, made many friends and became a member of First Baptist Church in Nixa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Don, two sisters: Donna and Barbara, his wife Della and one great granddaughter, Frankielynn.

He is survived by two brothers: Jim (Dorothy) Tollen and Dave (Pat) Tollen; four children: Holly (Euill) Bower, Natalie (Ken) Tilley, Joe (Sheila) Tollen and Tangaleen Meadows; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, a multitude of nieces and nephews, ex-wife Nancy (Roy) Mullins and longest lifetime friend Larry (Joan) Killillay.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in honor of Paul Tollen, to First Baptist Church, Nixa.

Cremation is under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
