The City of Ozark broke ground on the new Chadwick Flyer Trail Pedestrian Bridge on Friday, July 18. Dozens of people, including local government and civic leaders, were on hand to witness the event, which marked the start of the construction of the overpass. The overpass will not only allow people to cross over US Highway 65 safely on foot but will also be part of a route that allows walkers, bikers, and runners to travel safely between Springfield and Ozark. more

The Ozark Boosters Club held their 70th annual rodeo at the Ozark Boosters Club Arena on the evenings of Friday, July 18, and Saturday, July 19. The event, which drew crowds of at least 4,000 people each night, featured competitions including steer wrestling, heeler team roping, barrel racing, and saddle bronc riding. There was also a special performance by the Ozarks’ Renegades, and the humor provided by veteran rodeo clown Colton Ulmer kept the audience entertained. more

Sound the Alarm, a 2000's rock-n-roll cover band from Springfield, provided live music during the evening, while attendees milled about to see what area vendors had for them or spend time in the Free Kids Zone. A Nixa man was recently arrested on charges that he allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 17. Nicholas Hill, 36, is charged with second-degree statutory rape, first-degree harassment, and violation of an order of protection. more
