Ozark Rotary Club recently donated $8,000 to Ozark School District programs. Care to Learn Ozark, which helps meet the immediate needs of students in the areas of health, hunger, and hygiene, received $4,000, while Finley River School, which provides alternative education, also received $4,000.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, Nixa will hold its annual 70th Christmas Parade! This year’s theme is Past to Present: Seven Decades of a Nixa Christmas. The parade will start at 2:00 p.m. Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring the 2024 Nixa Christmas Parade! Make sure to be on the lookout for Santa, who will be on the Gateway Real Estate parade float. Parade Route: Leaving from The X Center, the parade will travel west on North St., turn right on to Main (north) to Aven and turn left (west), take Aven to Fort St. (south), south on Fort St. to Wasson (west), west on Wasson to McCroskey (north), north on McCroskey to Lorene (east), east on Lorene to Main St. (north), north on Main St. to Short St. (east), east on Short St., to Frank (south), south on Frank to Kyle (east), east on Kyle to the back driveway of the Nixa Jr. High. The performing bands will begin at the Nixa Jr. High.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows that deer hunters in Missouri harvested 159,120 deer during the November portion of firearms deer season, Nov. 16 - 26. Of the 159,120 deer harvested, 82,613 were antlered bucks, 13,203 were button bucks, and 63,304 were does.

One of the familiar constellations of winter is Cassiopeia. It is easy to spot in the northern sky because of its distinctive ‘W’ pattern. Within its borders lie two bright Messier objects, and several other objects worth viewing. Yet within this constellation, an event occurred that changed the view of the universe.

December is here. Deer and waterfowl seasons are still going on but are beginning to wind down. Most of us who sit in a duck blind or deer stand are also starting to wind down. We still go because we love our time outdoors. We want to soak up as much of the hunting seasons as possible. It is a long time until the spring turkey season.
