The Christian County Senior Citizens Service Fund is providing emergency disaster assistance for seniors of Christian County of age 60 and above who were impacted by the April 29 storms. Funds of up to $600 per household are available; up to $200 for food spoilage, and up to $400 for debris cleanup. more
Christian County voters approved Ambulance District Property Tax Relief, a ballot measure that the Christian County Ambulance District put forth on the ballot for the election held on Tuesday, April 8. During the election, 2,770 people, or 52.29 percent of the voters, cast “Yes” votes for the proposition, while 2,527 people, or 47.71 percent of those who voted, cast “No” votes. more

Cynthia “Cindy” Elaine Gardner, age 51, of Billings, Mo., passed from this life on Feb. 1, 2025. She entered this life on Sept. 1, 1973, in Branson, Mo., the daughter of James Junior Lewallen, and Billie (Chase) Cody. Cindy was saved and baptized in the spring of 1996 at Verona Baptist church in Verona, Missouri. more

Melissa Venable, accused of allegedly lying about her place of residency before running for Mayor of Billings earlier this year, has resigned as mayor, according to a press release dated Monday, Dec. 23 from Venable’s attorney, Taylon Sumners-Schwartz. The press release did not state an effective date for her resignation. more
