The Nixa High School Theatre Department took part in the Speech and Theatre Association of Missouri’s district Reader’s Theatre and One Act Play competition on Monday, March 2, and they will move onto state-level competition in April. more
The City of Nixa is excited to announce Travis Cossey as the new Director of Nixa Utilities and Public Works. Cossey has dedicated nearly 30 years of service to the City, including 24 years in Planning and Development, where he served as City Planner. Later, he served as Development Director from 2012 to 2020, before becoming the Assistant Director of Nixa Utilities and Public Works. He brings extensive experience and institutional knowledge to his new leadership role. Cossey replaces Doug Colvin, who retired in the fall. more

If Nixa voters approve Proposition One when they go to the polls on Tuesday, April 7, the Nixa City Charter will be amended so that vacancies on the Nixa City Council with a remaining term of over one year will no longer be filled with a special election. Rather, the vacancy would be filled by mayoral appointment, with the approval of the city council; the same process used to fill vacancies that have less than a year-long-term remaining. more

Ozark area women met February 24 at the new Children's Smile Center facility to plan for Year 11 of the Impact 100 Ozark organization. Impact 100 Ozark is a philanthropic initiative designed to pool funds from members to collectively make large grants in the area of Ozark that improve the quality of life. Since 2016 they have given away nearly $462,200 and will pass the half million dollar mark with their large grants later in 2026. She has been the retail location manager at Liberty Bank, a vice-president at Ozark Bank, and she is currently the Chief Operating Officer at TelComm Credit Union, but next month she takes on yet another role: She will become a member of the Missouri Credit Union Commission. more
The Nixa High School Future Business Leaders of America attended the FBLA District 18 Leadership Conference at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. on Wednesday, Feb. 4. During competition held at the event, 21 students advanced to state-level competition. more

The Nixa High School Bowling Team had their first competition of the 2026 Bowling Season on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Enterprise Park Lanes in Springfield. Coach David Evans said the team made a strong showing at the event. more
