Donald “Don” L. Damme, age 78, of Springfield, Mo. went to be with the Lord on Dec. 2, 2025. He passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield. Don was born to Frank and Edith (Tribble) Damme on Jan. 11, 1947, in Armona, Calif. He was the oldest of three boys and is survived by his two younger brothers, Michael and Lawrence. more

Wallace David Porter (David) peacefully fell asleep at home in Sparta, Mo., on Dec. 4, 2025, and entered Heaven's eternal rest. God orchestrated a full-circle life as David's birth on March 17, 1934, took place in the humble farmhouse located across the road from his final earthly home in Sparta. He lived a full life of 91-plus years. more

Christian County Elks Lodge #2777 proudly hosted its annual Thanksgiving luncheon for Veterans on Wednesday, Nov. 19, welcoming more than 100 guests for a heartfelt celebration of service and gratitude. Over 70 veterans enjoyed a full traditional Thanksgiving dinner—turkey, trimmings, and all—prepared entirely by lodge members who spent the morning cooking and getting everything ready for this special occasion. All food for the event was generously donated to support the lodge’s ongoing mission to serve those who served. more
