Ankle injury forces Nixa defensive catalyst Flint courtside for fourth quarter

Posted

COLUMBIA —Nixa’s comeback attempts in the Eagles’ Class 6 state semifinal loss to Oak Park Wednesday came without guard Randy Flint.

Flint injured an ankle early in the fourth quarter, briefly tried to play while hobbling on the court, before grudgingly accepting his fate.

He did not return.

“Randy's been a catalyst defensively for us the last 6-8 weeks,” coach Brock Blansit said. “Not having him hurt. There's no doubt not having Randy on the floor (was) a setback.”

Flint played 24 minutes and collected six points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.

If he can play in Thursday’s third-place game, Flint can make a run at Jordan Epps’ single-season school record for steals.
