A total lunar eclipse will be visible on the night of the 13th through the morning of the 14th. Lunar eclipses occur when the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Full Moon. The light from the Sun strikes the Earth, causing a shadow on the Moon. The term for when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are exactly or very closely aligned is called syzygy.
