Nixa by the numbers — Bray shining as Lady Eagles' leader in assists and rebounds

Posted

Jacy Bray has remained ultra productive for Nixa, while averaging a modest 3.5 points a game.

Bray’s numbers otherwise jump off the stats sheet. The junior swingman leads the Lady Eagles with 72 rebounds, 56 assists and seven drawn charges, to go along with 23 steals.

She has at least twice as many assists as every other Lady Eagle, with the exception of Lily Mahy.

Bray’s last seven games have seen her total 29 assists and nine steals. That stretch includes a 10-assist night at Ozark in which she had just one turnover.

Bray is the only player in the Lady Eagles’ regular rotation with more assists than turnovers.

Statistically speaking, here are other Nixa notes:

— There’s no reason for basketball burnout at this stage of the season for the Lady Eagles. Nixa (13-4) was idle the first eight days of January and also off the final 10 days of the month. The Lady Eagles are due to play host to Jefferson City (12-5) tonight.

— Nixa’s 3-point shooting has picked up in the new year. Over the Lady Eagles’ last five games, they made 27 3-pointers. They had 36 in their first 12 games.

— Mahy has a streak of eight straight games with at least one 3 pointer.

— Forward Brooke Teter’s rebounding is on the rise. She had 21 rebounds during the Nixa Invitational Tournament. Teter has 26 offensive rebounds among her 59 boards on the season.

— Center Allison Jones has made her last eight free throws and is shooting 84 percent (27-of-32) from the foul line on season

— Center Laila Grant tops Nixa with 27 offensive rebounds.

— Forward Norah Clark has reached double-figure scoring in eight straight games.
