Saturday, May 2: The Christian County Lions Club and community sponsors are hosting a free community shred event at the Nixa Price Cutter’s parking lot from 10 a.m. - noon (or until truck is full). Bring your confidential documents to be shred on site with a Big Bear shredding truck. Please remove all metal such as paper clips or larger, staples are okay.
The Christian County Master Gardeners will be hosting their annual Plant Sale Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. - noon at the X Center. Multiple varieties of annual and perennial flowers, vegetables, herbs, trees, shrubs, succulents, grasses, native plants, houseplants and more will be available to purchase. Cash, local checks, and credit cards are accepted. Proceeds from the plant sale allow the Christian County Master Gardeners to beautify the community through local projects as well as help fund scholarships to students wishing to pursue a career in horticulture or related fields. For every purchase, receive a free tree while supplies last.
Monday, May 4: Make AI Your Partner in Genealogy Research, from 7-8 p.m., at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave., Springfield, Mo. and on Zoom. In this session, Missouri State Genealogical Association’s vice president Michelle Spencer uses case studies to highlight how these new and ever-changing technologies can help you find new records, analyze and distill documents to add depth to your family story.
Thursday, May 7: The Ozark Chamber of Commerce is hosting a National Day of Prayer event at the Stained Glass Theatre from 6:30 - 8 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments and breakfast will be provided.

Saturday, May 9: The Christian County Museum and Historical Society will have Jeff Patrick, museum curator at Wilson’s Creek, speak on “Greyhounds: the First Iowa Infantry and the Campaign and Battle of Wilson’s Creek” and the pivotal role of this 90-day regiment in Missouri in 1861. The event take place at 3 p.m. The Museum is located at 100 E. Elm, on the Square in Ozark.
Monday, May 11: The Children’s Smile Center will hold a ribbon cutting, organized by the Ozark and Nixa Chambers of Commerce, will take place at 11:30 a.m. at 112 S. Ridgecrest Ave. in Nixa.
Saturday, May 16: Ozark Senior Center will be having a Spaghetti Dinner and Movie Fundraiser. Dinner will be served starting at 5 p.m., followed by a movie at 6 p.m. There will be tea or coffee, and desserts. Popcorn will be available during the movie. Admission is $15.
Wednesday, May 20: Censuses –The Backbone of Genealogical Research (Program), from 10-11 a.m. at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave., Springfield, Mo., and on Zoom. A strong start in pursuing genealogical connections is made with the U.S. federal censuses that provide an every-ten-year snapshot of our ancestors’ lives. But state and territorial censuses often fill in gaps that are otherwise missed. Patti Hobbs will explain the rich corpus of information available in both the federal and other censuses.
